The Mother Superior turns to novice Sister Margaret and says, "I don't think they know who we are. Show them your cross."

Sister Margaret rolls down her window and shouts, "Screw off ye little freakin' wankers, before I come over there and rip yer nuts off!"

Sister Margaret looks back very sweetly at the Mother Superior and asks, "Was that cross enough?!"

Thankful Thursday

It's the day after the San Bernardino, California, massacre by more mentally ill Mohammedans (i.e. satan worshipers). So, it seems that World War III has begun in earnest and our country is officially in the thick of it. My thoughts and prayers are with the innocent victims and their families this morning. Will Americans continue to look the other way? Or will my fellow citizens say "Enough!" and demand that all those involved in this evil political system be deported or jailed immediately? Do they love their children or grandchildren or their own lives enough to care? Or will they just buy another electronic device and tune out hoping it will all go away? Time will tell.

There is a lot to be thankful for this morning. One is I still live in a part of the country where we are armed and can defend ourselves when there are wolves everywhere that want to kill unarmed citizens.

I am thankful for the food in our larder, the fuel in our vehicles in which to express my freedom of movement, our income -albeit meager- which still keeps the hungry wolves from our door, and a loving LORD who will watch over all of us who believe.

By the way, I'm having trouble with Blogger. I'll send a post 'out there' and it takes literally hours for it to appear on-line. Anyone else having this issue also? I don't know who to contact to correct this error, so, guess I'll just have to live with it for now.

Setting The Cruise Control

Ok, things have suddenly gotten crazy hectic around here. With my husband pre-cooking many items that need to be chilled, me washing up, cleaning the house, running errands and now I've injured my right hip again! Bummer. Anyway, I'm going to put the blog on cruise and concentrate on the Holiday.

Here's wishing everyone in my bloggy world a very Happy Thanksgiving, even the dear ones across the pond. Wish you could join us here in the States. You'd be more than welcome at our table.

A Card For You

Double Heaping Of Blessings Hodpodge

The giblets are simmering.

This year, we get to have two Thanksgivings. The 'free' turkey won at the local IGA has already thawed, so, husband said, "Better cook it now." Works for me! I never turn down those kinds of lovely smells. The Jack Russell Terrorists, especially Jack, haven't left the throw rug sitting near the stove all morning. He's such a moocher. There will be  the traditional cornbread stuffing, homemade turkey gravy, green beans, cranberry sauce, and mashed sweetened yams for dessert. There's probably more but I've drooled on the keyboard and have to stop to clean it up. *grin* Yum yum!

For the official day, we've been invited to our local dear friend's home for another happy repast. By the end of this week my belly will look like an overfed turkey. Guess I'd better steer clear of the woods. *lol*

El Cheapo Telephone Stand

Last Friday, my husband bought an antique telephone stand for only $19 at a local auction. This little number is solid wood, very well made. He's been refinishing and repairing the table as the weather permits all weekend. There's really plenty of furniture for our tiny living room but I wanted a small table next to the love seat. Fits nicely, don't ya think?

And it's finally cooled off in our neck of the woods. The sky is a deep blue, the air fresh and crisp. It's so pretty today. I think I'll start raking all the Long Leaf Pine needles that the wind left us this weekend. They would add a nice touch around the roses bed.

Pining For A Pantry

It's been a hoopla of activity in our neck of the woods with yet another 'remodeling' project for our almost 24 year old home. (I blame the new hormones ... they're working splendidly, much to my husbands chagrin!) Next to the last thing to be changed was the pantry I've been pining for. OK, here's a brief history of the house for the newbies: this room started out as the laundry but because it leads into the carport, it migrated into a sort of impromptu front door for the neighbors. My fellow country friends will understand why. Anywho, now that the carport is looking so lovely, I just couldn't have folks weaving past dog smells and clutter before entering the house plus our kitchen is teeny tiny with very little cabinet space. Thus, the pantry idea.

BEFORE

First, we sold the coffin style deep freezer on Craigslist. You know, that thing sold in two hours!? I had no idea freezer's where so popular. It was taking up way too much real estate for just the two of us, and since it was still in excellent working order, we where able to obtain a top dollar resale price.

Next, purchased a smaller upright frost free freezer on sale (my favorite word!). Whilst at Lowe's purchased a single door white cabinet with lots of shelves and matching coat hooks. Moved all the dog items to the left hand side of the room (in the back). We are so organized now.

AFTER

Voila! Just add food.

Sam III was cool with the whole renovation thing, but his brother Jack was totally freaked out. Someone moved his cheese! I found him cowering in my office with a shattered look on his face. Poor little guy. Several dog cookies, a chew bone and hugs later he was much improved.

The, hopefully, last scheduled remodel is the guest bedroom or The Blue Room, as I call it. The new flooring is purchased, so, we're all set. All that remains is removing and disposing of the 23+ year old carpet. I think that should wait until after Thanksgiving. The older I get, the longer it takes to recover from all this 'fun'. *lol*

Delta Breeze Was My Need

The day started gray, cold and still. After a near sleepless night, fraught with worry about real or imagined medical concerns*, the sky fit my frame of mind.

Irregardless of the physical circumstances, it was time to feel Delta wind on my knees. After a quick rundown of all the mechanical essentials to ensure safety the metal steed was ready.

We had made arrangements to meet up with a new friend 'Nemo' for a lunch feast from the Honda CB1100 Forum that my husband participates in.

Of course, the first words out of my mouth at the restaurant parking lot was "Did I find Nemo?" Being the great guy he is, Nemo chuckled warmly and, on that happy note, we all enjoyed a scrumptious hot meal at the Steffens Restaurant in Kingsland, Georgia.

After 150 miles of twisty piney flats, abandoned farm houses, flowing rivers and swamp overlooks, I was beginning to show signs of fatigue. I parted ways with my companions and headed back to the stable to enjoy hot tea and snacks.

By the end of the day, we had an orange tinged sunset with thin streaks of gray set against a stunning azure blue sky. What a magical way to close the day.

*By the by, I am happy to note that the Duavee is working splendidly!

Paris Attacks

This evening as I was preparing a post about a much longed for ride on Veterans Day, world events where suddenly thrust to the forefront of my mind. These words of comfort needed to take precedence to my joy as others are suffering. I want to offer my heartfelt prayers for the people tortured, dying and living in fear in Paris this evening. I'll refrain from the "I told you so" moment for I'm sure they are also thinking these thoughts. We must remain armed and ready for what is also approaching our very shores ... or may already be here. And I will add that, no matter what the future brings, even if it brings war, torture, and prosecution, as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. Stay safe out there, my friends, and remain vigilant. Muslim hordes will soon be coming to a town near you.

Is It Hot In Here, Or Is It Duavee?

One of my 'feet of clay' is impatience. Second is dealing with medical issues. Put them together, and it's a ticking time bomb waiting to explode on the nearest innocent bystander.

I hope you're at least wearing a bib.

Today was the much anticipated Big Appointment with the chosen Physician's Assistant concerning my hormone issues. After much discussion back and forth with the Nurse, I became encouraged. However, the chat with the P.A. left me feeling deflated and discouraged. She didn't go for my Progesterone suggestion. She wants me to try Duavee for one week. Blood was drawn (enough to donate to any local vampire, in my opinion), the next appointment made, and we're going from there. Personally, I still want to try the Progesterone. I made the mistake of googling what to expect from this Duavee, and now I'm scared! It got very bad reviews. Are things going to get worse? Or better? Or no change?

Being medically challenged, I am sooooo out of my depth here. There's a lot of trepidation about this course floating around in my mind.

With each new drug, there goes my last hopes of living on a deserted island.

I'd rather be riding the Tail Of The Dragon in the North Carolina / Tennessee mountains with life and limb in danger at every turn than going thorough this.

Since the desert island dream is fading away, I'm going to watch Downton Abbey reruns, sip a bottle glass of chilled wine, and get lost in a more pleasant subject.

Even though I do appreciate the rain, after three days of it, I think it's time for a little sunshine and cooler temp's. It's been too warm even for Southeast Georgia.

My medical appointment to discuss the hormone issues is tomorrow afternoon. I'll be sure to let you know what the Physician Assistant thinks about my ideas on this subject. Hopefully she is well versed in this field and together we can come up with a clear plan to get my health in ship shape order. I'm anxious to get back in the saddle again.

Rain Is Approaching

Rain is approaching! Hurray! We need it so desperately.

I can't believe it's November already. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holiday's. It's centered around family and friends. No cards, gifts or any of the other commercial trappings.

No Sunday lesson today. Still not feeling 100%. Not ill just unsettled. But, we're happy and well otherwise. Sitting here watching Downton Abbey reruns and sipping hot tea. Everything is lovely. Hope your day is too.

Thankful Thursday

There's so much to be thankful for. Let's see, to pin it down to this very moment, it would have to be that we are still hanging on financially. It's close to the bone, but there is still a pulse. Truly finances have taken such a big hit with the economic downturn, rampant inflation and the almost zero interest rates, but like the bread and the fishes [Matthew 14:13-21], we are still able to pay the utilities, buy food, gasoline and medicine. All the essentials. I praise the LORD God for this mercy.

By the by, I hear that the Republican 'Debate' on that obscure CNBC network last night showed all our candidates in a good light. Even Donald Trump behaved like a gentleman (for once). Of course the Demoncrat talking heads made the usual @$$ out themselves with their vitriolic questions spewed from scowling faces. Wish I had watched it now. But this helps me feel very encouraged that this nightmare administration will soon join other rotten administrations in the dustbin of history.

A Walk Around The Property Making Plans

An evening walk around our property yesterday revealed this in the distance.

One of the first trees to 'change' for Fall in SE Georgia is the Chinese Tallow (Triadica sebifera). On the left is our pet cemetery of past furry friends. Notice the forest of leaves on the ground? Time for moi' to get busy with the mulch mower.

The Tallow, up close and personal. They are lovely this time of year. Too bad they're considered invasive in this neck of the woods. This one is not a threat for getting out of hand as it's on the driest part of the property. Nothing seems to want to propagate in this soil.

It should be a quiet week. Only three items that must be taken care of. 

First and foremost is one of my dearest friends is having cataract eye surgery this afternoon. She is scheduled for the first of two lens replacements that I had years ago. I will rejoice with her when she can throw away those coke bottle bottom glasses forever. Please pray for her that all will go well. Thank you so much.

Second is it's time for a monthly B-12 shot. At the same time, I must corral the real Doctor (not the P.A. that usually administers medical care) and start discussing alternative hormone replacement therapy. Seems that after 23 years of Premarin, I may be on the wrong medication. Some adverse symptoms have arisen. I can thank my wonderful husband for acquiring the answer to this problem. When it comes to discussing medicine, I am definitely Medically Challenged. Accounting is my forte. He read a recent article in Motorcycle Classics (yeah, motorcycles ... to the rescue as always ...) that addressed these symptoms and said, "Honey, I know what's wrong!" So, now I have a starting point with which to fix the ailments.

Third is preparations are underway for the Halloween party on Friday evening. I am so juiced. Hubby still has not revealed what he has planned for his costume. Guess we'll have to learn that together, won't we Dear Readers. *grin*

And that's my life this week. What's on your agenda?

Got Questions: What does the Bible teach about the Trinity?

Below is what I believe is a very well written explanation about the Holy Trinity. It's so important that we as professing Christians understand this concept, as there are some cults that lend confusion to this issue. There's also a well written article about that Scripture that states why He says "call no man Father" (Matthew 23:9) concerning this same subject.

Many years ago, I was working at various temporary accounting assignments. This brought me in contact with many individuals of all creeds, races, and beliefs. I had the privilege to witness for Christ many times. One was to a professed Jehovah Witness member. This young lady claimed to have a difficult time understanding how God can be three Persons in One and kept drawing a three headed person saying "Is this what you believe in?" Of course, that was more nonsense perpetrated by the cult. Thankfully, I had just read about the JW's and their beliefs, so, I was ready! As believers we must put on the "breast plate of righteousness" (Ephesians 6:14) so we can be prepared to fight the devil's wiles. After much lengthy discussion, I pray that I left her with some thoughts to ponder. I also humbly pray that this helps lend understanding, as it has me, on this very important subject concerning the nature of our most precious LORD.

Question: "What does the Bible teach about the Trinity?"

Answer: The most difficult thing about the Christian concept of the Trinity is that there is no way to perfectly and completely understand it. The Trinity is a concept that is impossible for any human being to fully understand, let alone explain. God is infinitely greater than we are; therefore, we should not expect to be able to fully understand Him. The Bible teaches that the Father is God, that Jesus is God, and that the Holy Spirit is God. The Bible also teaches that there is only one God. Though we can understand some facts about the relationship of the different Persons of the Trinity to one another, ultimately, it is incomprehensible to the human mind. However, this does not mean the Trinity is not true or that it is not based on the teachings of the Bible.

The Trinity is one God existing in three Persons. Understand that this is not in any way suggesting three Gods. Keep in mind when studying this subject that the word “Trinity” is not found in Scripture. This is a term that is used to attempt to describe the triune God—three coexistent, co-eternal Persons who make up God. Of real importance is that the concept represented by the word “Trinity” does exist in Scripture. The following is what God’s Word says about the Trinity:

1) There is one God (Deuteronomy 6:4; 1 Corinthians 8:4; Galatians 3:20; 1 Timothy 2:5).

2) The Trinity consists of three Persons (Genesis 1:1, 26; 3:22; 11:7; Isaiah 6:8, 48:16, 61:1; Matthew 3:16-17, 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14). In Genesis 1:1, the Hebrew plural noun "Elohim" is used. In Genesis 1:26, 3:22, 11:7 and Isaiah 6:8, the plural pronoun for “us” is used. The word "Elohim" and the pronoun “us” are plural forms, definitely referring in the Hebrew language to more than two. While this is not an explicit argument for the Trinity, it does denote the aspect of plurality in God. The Hebrew word for "God," "Elohim," definitely allows for the Trinity.

In Isaiah 48:16 and 61:1, the Son is speaking while making reference to the Father and the Holy Spirit. Compare Isaiah 61:1 to Luke 4:14-19 to see that it is the Son speaking. Matthew 3:16-17 describes the event of Jesus' baptism. Seen in this passage is God the Holy Spirit descending on God the Son while God the Father proclaims His pleasure in the Son. Matthew 28:19 and 2 Corinthians 13:14 are examples of three distinct Persons in the Trinity.

3) The members of the Trinity are distinguished one from another in various passages. In the Old Testament, “LORD” is distinguished from “Lord” (Genesis 19:24; Hosea 1:4). The LORD has a Son (Psalm 2:7, 12; Proverbs 30:2-4). The Spirit is distinguished from the “LORD” (Numbers 27:18) and from “God” (Psalm 51:10-12). God the Son is distinguished from God the Father (Psalm 45:6-7; Hebrews 1:8-9). In the New Testament, Jesus speaks to the Father about sending a Helper, the Holy Spirit (John 14:16-17). This shows that Jesus did not consider Himself to be the Father or the Holy Spirit. Consider also all the other times in the Gospels where Jesus speaks to the Father. Was He speaking to Himself? No. He spoke to another Person in the Trinity—the Father.

4) Each member of the Trinity is God. The Father is God (John 6:27; Romans 1:7; 1 Peter 1:2). The Son is God (John 1:1, 14; Romans 9:5; Colossians 2:9; Hebrews 1:8; 1 John 5:20). The Holy Spirit is God (Acts 5:3-4; 1 Corinthians 3:16).

5) There is subordination within the Trinity. Scripture shows that the Holy Spirit is subordinate to the Father and the Son, and the Son is subordinate to the Father. This is an internal relationship and does not deny the deity of any Person of the Trinity. This is simply an area which our finite minds cannot understand concerning the infinite God. Concerning the Son see Luke 22:42, John 5:36, John 20:21, and 1 John 4:14. Concerning the Holy Spirit see John 14:16, 14:26, 15:26, 16:7, and especially John 16:13-14.

6) The individual members of the Trinity have different tasks. The Father is the ultimate source or cause of the universe (1 Corinthians 8:6; Revelation 4:11); divine revelation (Revelation 1:1); salvation (John 3:16-17); and Jesus' human works (John 5:17; 14:10). The Father initiates all of these things.

The Son is the agent through whom the Father does the following works: the creation and maintenance of the universe (1 Corinthians 8:6; John 1:3; Colossians 1:16-17); divine revelation (John 1:1, 16:12-15; Matthew 11:27; Revelation 1:1); and salvation (2 Corinthians 5:19; Matthew 1:21; John 4:42). The Father does all these things through the Son, who functions as His agent.

The Holy Spirit is the means by whom the Father does the following works: creation and maintenance of the universe (Genesis 1:2; Job 26:13; Psalm 104:30); divine revelation (John 16:12-15; Ephesians 3:5; 2 Peter 1:21); salvation (John 3:6; Titus 3:5; 1 Peter 1:2); and Jesus' works (Isaiah 61:1; Acts 10:38). Thus, the Father does all these things by the power of the Holy Spirit.

There have been many attempts to develop illustrations of the Trinity. However, none of the popular illustrations are completely accurate. The egg (or apple) fails in that the shell, white, and yolk are parts of the egg, not the egg in themselves, just as the skin, flesh, and seeds of the apple are parts of it, not the apple itself. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are not parts of God; each of them is God. The water illustration is somewhat better, but it still fails to adequately describe the Trinity. Liquid, vapor, and ice are forms of water. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are not forms of God, each of them is God. So, while these illustrations may give us a picture of the Trinity, the picture is not entirely accurate. An infinite God cannot be fully described by a finite illustration.

The doctrine of the Trinity has been a divisive issue throughout the entire history of the Christian church. While the core aspects of the Trinity are clearly presented in God’s Word, some of the side issues are not as explicitly clear. The Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God—but there is only one God. That is the biblical doctrine of the Trinity. Beyond that, the issues are, to a certain extent, debatable and non-essential. Rather than attempting to fully define the Trinity with our finite human minds, we would be better served by focusing on the fact of God's greatness and His infinitely higher nature. “Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?” (Romans 11:33-34).
