Friday Fotos

🌻 As the temperatures slowly rise in preparation for Spring in the Southeast the dormant wildflowers have been making themselves known. First, we are decided to prepare the soil for planting a bag of Burpee wildflowers for Butterflies and Hummingbirds.

🌻 The next day we took a drive through neighboring Wayne County.

🌻 A well groomed dirt road in Wayne County. I wish our County roads looked this good.

🌻 One of our harbingers of Spring is the Wild Mustard that grows along the dirt roads all over the Southeast.

🌻 What are they? I don't know. They are low growing and make the fields a lovely lilac hue when growing en masse.

🌻 An old barn near Screven, Georgia

🌻 Me standing next to one of our metal steeds. It was still chilly until after Noon. Then it became warm, balmy, and the air sweet.

🌻  Yesterday, we worked on removing one more old Pear tree. Two down, two to go! πŸ˜… Unfortunately, we didn't finish cutting or removing the old Pear yet. Steve's back gave out, bless his heart. He had to go rest.

🌻 Meanwhile, Maggie had to "help" our outside activities by chasing away whatever was hiding under an old burned out stump. She's such a hoot.

🌻 That's it. I hope y'all have a wonderful rest of the day and weekend.  πŸ’ŒπŸ️

A Real Love Story

The first real love story. Amen? Thank you Jesus for saving us from the "wrath to come". By His grace we are saved.

Right now I'm comfortably ensconced in my recliner with a belly full of New England Breakfast Blend coffee and the heater humming peacefully along because it's 33* outside. I am anxious to get out there to begin preparing for Spring planting. Yesterday, I spotted this design in a magazine. It's made from grape vines. One of our plans is to have as big a Butterfly garden as possible off one of our back decks. We live on a fairly good size amount of acreage surrounded by woods. Therefore there is an abundant supply of free muscadine grape vines trailing off the pines and scrub oaks. I plan (note 'plan', doesn't mean I will 'do') to chop some down and while the vine is green and pliable, make this design myself. I used to do things like that Way Back When. $30 to $40 for a premade one is just silly when there's ample free vines all around. With these plans in mind I have ordered a small string of solar fairy lights off Amazon to dress it up with. Stay tuned to see if I actually follow through. "The best made plans ..." etc. etc. πŸ˜…πŸ˜

"Amazing grace! how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch; like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see."

I hope your day is blessed with the true love that flows from His throne to our hearts. πŸ’“

Friday Fotos & A Funny

Writing really can be hard, just like motorbikin'. To compose a coherent thought sometimes it's almost like I need to knock some ideas outta my head to get motivated. 😁

Part of the problem is we have been busy lately! Along with raking, burning, cutting down dead or dying trees, trimming trees on the long, winding driveway, etc. there's been other matters to address. Briefly, here's our week in photos:

I took a long time cleaning up my home office cum sewing and craft area. It took me days to throw away, straighten, organize everything and move furniture. Now I'm ready to rock and roll!

One day this week we drove to the Georgia coast to visit Brunswick, do some shopping and check out a new coffee shop called The Facility. The shop also has a gun range, how cool is that?! Afterwards, Steve shopped at The Academy (sporting goods store). I was bored so went the other way to shop at their Hobby Lobby. Yes, I want that sign.  πŸ‘€πŸ˜„ That's so me.  πŸ˜‚

Yesterday, we had another wild hair moment and drove up to Baxley. County Farm has a lot of their Spring flowers ready for purchase! There's still too much threat of frost or freeze even for Southeast Georgia, so, all the plants stayed there. I'm resisting all temptation to bring them all home. I plan to wait until March. We did buy a new cultivator from Harbor Freight earlier this week. It's a nice little 2-stroke by some Chinese company. We'll use that for planting later on. Hopefully it will work as it should and give us years of service. I just can't hoe anymore. Hurts my shoulders and Steve's back. It's not worth the pain.

That's pretty much it. Today, we're treating ourselves (like we really work so hard) 😏 [/sarc] to more special coffee at our local watering hole. Oh, and it's tax season in what's left of America. Even though our politicians don't think they should pay their taxes we always try to do the right thing to keep the goons away. Gotta go cut them a check and be done with it for another year. I don't worry. Their day of reckoning is comin'. Oh yes.

I hope your day is lovely, bright, and full of joy. Remember, it's all good when you're a Child of God. Keep looking up! Jesus is coming back soon. πŸ’“πŸ˜πŸ˜Ž

Sunday Blessings

Wasn't feelin' the Sunday Stealing today. Too many questions. Guess I'm tired from this past week. So, have a happy Sunday. We're heading to Church to worship the One we love the best with those who also love Him. Remember, Jesus LOVES YOU. I pray He will be removing us to His side soon. πŸ’

Keep it shiny side down and between the lines 'til we pass this way again.

Love and blessings. πŸ’ž

Friday Fotos

Good morning! Welcome to Friday Fotos. It's been a quiet week. Mostly one of yard work and errands. Pollen season is early this year which put us on the sidelines temporarily. That's OK. It's part of living.

I've been burning some of the 10 kazillion leaves that fell last year. Well, first I mulch, then I burn what is excess. Makes the acreage so much more manageable in Spring.

What was once going to the our Pear Orchard, which didn't pan out for many reasons, has become a problem of excess leaves and too much shade. The dead or dying trees are going to slowly be removed. Steve said that Pear trees wood are good for crafts or furniture. I suppose the larger tree could be milled and used for such. We'll see if we go that route. Might simply burn it all and move on. I'm so ready for Spring this year. I've already gotta list of flowers I want to plant all over the property. Now that we're almost totally carnivores there's not much need for vegetables anymore. I like this way of living. My body and pocket book agree with it.

Yesterday we stopped by our local Southern Sippin' in Blackshear for the weekly sugar-free Frozen Frappe'. That's my weekly "milkshake".

We're going shopping today, I think. The weather is lovely but I can't keep up the physical labor day after day like Once Upon A Time. There have to be days of rest in between or I'll pay for it with too many aches and pains.

I'll leave y'all with a funny or two. I hope your day is special, bright, and full of good news. Thanks for stopping by.

Sunday Stealing

Welcome to Sunday Stealing. This feature originated and published on WTIT: The Blog. Here we will steal all types of questions from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent questions. Cheers to all of us thieves. Original post here

1. What are your plans for February? There are a couple of Doctor appointments to keep. Mostly follow-ups. Nothing serious. Other than the usual day-to-day things that must be dealt with, that's about it for plans.

2. Did you ever have or go to sleepovers as a kid? No, can't say that I did. No one wanted to be around my Old Man, so, no one came over or spent time at our house. Even I tried not to be home much.

3. Which books would you pick for a book binge?  Agatha Christie's works. Hands down.

4. What features do you love most about your home? That's it's paid for, easy to clean, comfortable and we have no close neighbors.

5. How often do you try something new?  Only when I have to. πŸ€£

6. What type of sushi is your favorite?  Sushi is a hard no. Not a fan. My husband likes it though.

7. Do you prefer to relax or go on adventures during vacation?  No vacations forthcoming but when we did we were the adventurous types.

8. Which colors look best on you? With my skin color: blues, tans, soft pastels.

9. Do you like brunch?  πŸ˜… Even though I only eat a complete meal once a day four times a week now I wouldn't turn down wholesome food! Doesn't matter when it's served.

10. Do you get stage fright? Not usually. I'm a bit of a clown anyway. πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜…πŸ€Ή

11. Which podcasts do you like at the moment?  None. I do miss listening to Talk Radio on the FM radio. The signals won't reach out where we are.

12. One thing that immediately makes your day better.  Lots of things: a pretty day, learning that someone has given their heart to Jesus, watching the dogs play, bird watching, taking photos, being with my husband, and on and on.

13. Which family members are you closest to?  My husband's adult niece Deborah and her family. She's a great gal.

14. Something you practice often? Shooting. πŸ”«πŸ€  We have our own range. One can never be too good at that. Our 'neighbors' also practice a lot.

15. Are you a light sleeper or a deep sleeper?  πŸ˜΄ Deep sleeper, usually, but there are times when sleep is evasive.

Speaking of stealing. The devil wants to steal more of our joy in Jesus Christ. Got something weighing on my heart that wants to be shared. I hope it's "nothing" and this post will seem silly when I look at it a year from now but as all Children of God know we are in a spiritual war. [Ephesians 6] There is something wicked in the wind being planned by the Uber rich possibly in February. Whether it comes to fruition or not, time will tell. I've been reading where many of the High Tech Billionaires and other uber rich are heading for their underground bunkers that month. Hmmm ... they are said to have cattle, chickens, supplies, medicine, etc. already for whatever it is "they" are planning? The WEF (headed by the gonorrhea infected pedophile Klaus Schwab) is planning to release another disease. It's called Disease X at the moment. Their plan is to kill humans and animals this time. Personally, I don't believe it's going to be that deadly because the C19 certainly wasn't. Only the "treatments" were deadly. They also already have a "vaccine" for this disease guaranteed to kill and ruin lives just like the last is. The devil is getting desperate for more victims.

There's also a rumour they will throw in fear about a World War III for good measure concerning possibly Russia. The British Government is already doing this per Neil Oliver, a Scottish resident on YouTube. Personally, I don't think Russia is so insane to want a nuclear war with us or anyone because it would annihilate them as well. The Dem's, RINO's and the Military Complex war machine will probably try to enact the Draft again in order to kill yet more innocent people to make more money and to justify their worthless existence. Now, as I pen these words, it's comin' to a show down between Americans and the Puppet clown show currently in office. It just got real. Just my 2 cents plus tax.

There. I said it. I may be a canary in the cave or I may be getting nutty(er). 😁 I hope all this is only internet rumour, for what's it worth. That nothing earth shattering will happen. That's my prayer. "But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." Keep prayed up dear ones. Stock up on essentials. Keep your powder dry and buy lots of ammo. Sending love and prayers for us all that fear will not prevail. If you're like me, you only want to live your life and be left alone. But, it is what it is, right?! Thanks for listening.

Back to our regularly scheduled program.  πŸ˜ƒπŸ’“ Ride safe.

Friday Fotos

πŸ“Έ Welcome to Friday Fotos. Not too many this week. Just a few from around the yard because the weather has been so odd for January:  hot, humid, and rainy. The unusual warmth is causing the wildflowers to pop open and the buds to set. Not a good thing as when we do get another freeze, and we will, the bud's will be nipped off and there will be fewer flowers by the time we have a real Spring. Anyway, this week we've mostly only run errands for groceries, met with our financial advisor (it's not as impressive as that seems), attended Church, etc. Nothing earth shattering.

πŸ“Έ Enjoy the tour around our Estate.

Heavy dew hanging off the Red Cedar branches.
I wish there was sound with this too as the birds are singing to beat the band. I'm wondering if they're already pairing up? Kinda early but it can happen.

Maggie.
My almost constant companion. Little darlin'.

Mill Creek Primitive Baptist Church & Cemetery
More rain approaching. This is where our bones will rest one day if the Rapture doesn't come by then or something else happen. Steve's Mom is already there.

Mushrooms are popping up from all the moisture.

Carolina Yellow Jessamine (Gelsemium sempervirens)
A native to Southeast Georgia. They usually only bloom starting in late February. Their flowers will dot the roadsides and the sweet aroma wafts through the air. This lovely wildflower is one of our harbingers of Spring.

πŸ“Έ  I'm doing laundry, cleaning house, straightening the homestead today. After lunch we may go into the Big City. I still haven't gone to Hobby Lobby to buy felt to make the pillow covers for the new sofa slip covers. I need a project that doesn't involve work or errands.

πŸ“Έ  May y'all have a gloriously wonderful day. Stay safe. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Wednesday Hodpodge: Volume 535

For the life of me I can't figure out how to do that linky button thing that's available on the Wednesday Hodgepodge. Anyone have any suggestions how to use it? For now, here's the original post for anyone else that wants to participate.

1. Do you have a word for the year (WOTY)? Yes. If so, and you'd like to share, please share. How do you decide on a word? If you don't have a word are you still on the hunt for one for 2024? I pray, then let God show me His direction, or, at least I hope I do. So far I'm not being very bold. Nothing much has changed.

2. January 23rd is National Pie Day. Will you celebrate? Do you like pie? What's your favorite?  No, I won't celebrate. I like pie but it's too deadly for my blood sugar. My favorite was Baked Apple.

3. Tipping. What are your thoughts, expectations, as to who, when where? Do you appreciate a store/restaurant giving a 'suggested amount'? Have you ever left an extravagant tip?  I have given some waitresses a "nice" tip (more that 10%) but tipping has made eating out almost impossible for us now. It's come down to either eat the meal or tip. Time to eat at home 99.9% of the time because I don't like to be unkind to the server. Besides, it's cheaper and safer for my health to eat at home. It seems there's too many carbo laden meals in most restaurants, so, most of my meal gets left on the plate.

4. Share with us one household 'tip' that works for you.   I'm drawing a blank here.  πŸ˜‘

5. Influencers on social media are people who've built a reputation for their knowledge and expertise on a particular subject. Do you follow any influencers online? Have you made a purchase or tried something new because of that 'influence'? If there's one you particularly enjoy tell us who they are and why you enjoy them.   Until this question, I didn't know what an 'influencer' is, so, that is a no all the way around.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

The hydrocortisone shot yesterday went well. The shot burned like stink for an hour but I can already feel relief for the "Weaver's Butt". Now Steve's twisted a muscle in his back, bless his heart. πŸ’“ He has a Chiropractor appointment today. Not to worry. The Doc always sets him right. Funny how if it's not one thing it's two others. πŸ˜œπŸ˜…

Tuesday Tidbits

Drabble by Kevin Fagan

πŸ˜‡ It really is like that! Maggie the rescue dog follows me down the hallway to that room almost every time lately. I don't know what's up with that. It's like she doesn't want me out of her sight for one moment. Funny, really, but it is cute and very touching. Maggie is my almost constant companion. I'm OK with that.

πŸ˜‡ The temperatures of the evening have been in the mid-20s with the wind howling here in Southeast Georgia. The heater never quits running at night. πŸ‚ That's cold for us but not all that unusual. The only draw back is the severe weather has put a cramp in my morning walks. I like to walk a circle around the whole 6 acres when possible concentrating on prayer. Gives me time to focus on God and His goodness. The news is so dark these days that I try to hold onto the hem of His garment as much as possible. He is my only comfort.

πŸ˜‡ We took time to watch the Trump Rally in New Hampshire this weekend on YouTube. Anyone else watch it? I thought the speech was very encouraging, don't you? He's gonna hit the ground running when back in office. I make sure to pray for him, his family and his sponsors every day. Sometimes more than once a day. He's going to need it.

πŸ˜‡ Today our brother-in-law (husband to Steve's sister) has an important appointment with the Veterans Administration concerning possible compensation for his long-term exposure to Agent Orange in Viet Nam. Please pray for him to be treated fairly? If he can receive proper compensation for all the health problems caused by his time in service, he and family should be able to move up here even faster! Wouldn't that be an extra special blessing?! We'll be on pins and needles until we receive word one way or another. It's appalling how terrible our Vet's are being treated. It's shameful.

πŸ˜‡ Also today is my 6 week follow-up with the Orthopedics doctor concerning my "Weaver's Bottom" (Ischial Bursitis) situation. (Cute name for a pain in the butt.) πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚ That first super hydrocortisone shot worked for the right side but now I can feel it worsening on my left side. 😐 Guess I need another one. It is not a pleasant prospect. It is what it is.

πŸ˜‡ After the doctor's, if I can walk after the shot, my plans are to stop at the Hobby Lobby. The new sofa slip covers look super! They're so light and cheerful. But now the original dark green plaid felt pillows I made ages ago look out of place. So, now I want to recover them. Again. 😁 Steve just laughed. Well, it keeps me off the streets. πŸ˜‚

πŸ˜‡ Thanks for stopping by. I hope your day is blessed with lots of sunshine, happy thoughts and good memories. Keep looking up!
