Sunday Stealing: From Pinterest

Welcome to Sunday Stealing. This feature originated and published on WTIT: The Blog. Here we will steal all types of questions from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent questions. Cheers to all of us thieves. Original questions here

1. Your favorite part of the day. Any time that revolves around food or coffee. πŸ˜‹πŸ˜ That said, though, most y'all know we've gone Keto and are now eating almost completely carnivore. Our health is so improved! It's amazing. Anyway, Steve bought a package of Private Selection Jumbo Premium All-beef Hot Dogs ($4.49 a package of 4) a few weeks ago in Kroger on a lark to see if they are any good. I can happily share that they are scrumptious. Plump, juicy, low in salt, and very tasty. Just like eating a good cut of steak. We made a special trip to Kroger Friday to buy several more packages to keep in the big freezer. I don't think I could ever go back to the other brands of hot dogs except in desperation after tasting these.

2. Something you know a lot about. Genealogy, Medieval History and finding "lost" information or people. Everyone leaves a paper trail wherever they go, even criminals. With the right resources, a little persistence, enough time and some times plain dumb luck, the truth usually eventually comes to light.

3. An important person in your life. My husband, of course!

4. Your favorite recipe.  This one is courtesy of my dearly departed step-mother, Myra. She was a wonderful cook. Our Church family claim to love them and always ask us to bring a batch at all our outings.

Keto Slap 'Yo Mama Deviled Eggs
Dry Ingredients:
1 tablespoon Sweet Onions (Vidalia are best), minced
1 teaspoon Dill Weed
1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder
Salt and pepper to taste
Wet Ingredients:
1 tablespoon Sugar-free Pickle Relish
2 tablespoon real mayonnaise
1 teaspoon mustard

6 large eggs, soft boiled
Paprika (Smoked is OK)

Directions:
Grind one(1) complete egg with all the above dry ingredients. Mix well. Add wet ingredients. Sprinkle completed eggs lightly with paprika. Chill over night for best flavor. Serves 6.
5. An event that turned out differently than planned. April 1978 when I went on a SCUBA diving trip and met the man that would be my future husband in a year. Didn't see that comin'! πŸ’˜πŸ’‹

6. How do you procrastinate.  I'm not by nature a procrastinator. My husband, however, has made an art of it. πŸ˜†πŸ˜…

7. The best type of surprise. I don't know that I'd classify it as a surprise but I would have to say that when Jesus allows me to see the result of prayers for someone I feel might be lost (unsaved). I'm not privy to anyone's spiritual status and try not to go there but usually one can tell by the "fruits of the Spirit". Anyway, it's encouraging for me as well to hear such wonderful news. The Angels sing when someone Believes and I want to sing too! 🎡

8. Music that helps you relax.  Soft tunes from the 1930's and 1940's that I stream to the TV that are on YouTube. Old hymns I know by heart can be relaxing too.

9. A thing your life has in excess.  Blessings more than I deserve. They manifest themselves in Christian love, joy, and peace from God's Holy Throne, for sure.

10. A book you want to read.  Can't think of any. πŸ˜•

11. A person you're always happy to see. After my husband, that would be my BFF Vicki. Truthfully, though, I'm usually pleased as punch to see most everyone. We're all important in God's eyes, you know. We are all "fearfully and wonderfully made" with something important to accomplish for Him. I try now to view all of us as our Lord sees us. He is always happy to hear from us. πŸ˜‰ I learned that little gem when we attended First Baptist Church Blackshear. They were such a positive influence on me for which I am very grateful.

12. What time do you go to sleep. We try to retire about 10. If I keep to a schedule I sleep sounder.

13. A word to describe the past year.  I don't use that kind of language anymore. πŸ˜€πŸ€£πŸ€£

14.  Your favorite household chore. When it's done?  πŸ‘€πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

15.  One thing you'd like to see. The Wisconsin Dells, the nature part, not the artificial entertainment part. I've heard they are lovely in the Summer. Or alternately the Finger Lakes area in New York. Steve traveled up that way in the 1970's to watch the racing. I would like to see all that.

Deer Season is over for the year today but Steve doesn't hunt on Sunday's. Today is Church and relaxing. πŸ™ We already have two nice sized deer in the freezer anyway. It's been a good season for us. Also, it's warmed up considerably with it raining off and on here in Southeast Georgia. The Weather Channel was predicting freezing temp's using the usual fear tactics of "we're all gonna die" tones. Even the Schools closed down this week. It was nothing burger. Again. I'm so tired of the "news" over exaggerating everything now. And they wanna be the Global Climate Change cheerleaders for their pagan temples ... they can't even accurately predict tomorrow's weather. πŸ˜’ They make me laugh. It's tiresome.

I hope everyone has a pleasant, easy, fulfilling day. Thanks for stopping.

God bless,

Even Muddled We Can Still Be Used By Him

Sometimes I can actually put two sentences together with barely an effort to sound lucid like I’ve benefited from all the proper schooling my parents invested in. It’s unfortunate that most times I only sit here with a blank stare in front of this screen stumbling around with how to begin a blog post coherently so that I not sound like I'm 10 years old. So often I’ll start out with what I believe would be a good thought or event to share. In my thoughts I weave reasoned profundities using proper sentence structure, grammar and punctuation that would make my parents and my 4th Grade teacher proud. But other times I sit in front of this blank screen and am thwarted by that clanging monkey side of my brain making my thoughts turn into an irrational permanent adolescence. That set me to pondering, did the Prophets and other great men and women of God suffer from serious problems or hindrances in sharing His message or doing His will too? They sure did! Let’s see pick out just a few of the Prophets situations in the Holy Scriptures:

As we investigate the numerous ways in which prophets were persecuted we shall find that they divide into (1) rejection of themselves and their message, and (2) physical violence to their persons.

They were persecuted through ridicule (2 Kings 2:23, Luke 22:64, Jer 20:7); by being told to be quiet (Amos 2:12, 7:13); by unpleasant looks (Jer 1:8,17, 5:3); through accusations and having their message reported back to the authorities (Jer 18:19, 37:13, Amos 7:10, Jer 20:10); by being debarred from attending God's house (Jer 36:5); and by having their prophetic words, both spoken and written, rejected (Isa 30:10, Micah 2:6, Amos 7:12,16, Jer 36:23).

Physical violence to their persons took various forms: they were placed in the stocks (Jer 20:2); they were kept in chains (Jer 40:1); they were slapped in the face (1 Kings 22:24); they were imprisoned in cells, dungeons and cisterns (Jer 37:15-16 & 38:6) in some cases just on bread and water (1 Kings 22:27); they were threatened with death (1 Kings 19:1) while others were actually put to death (2 Chron 24:21, Jer 26:20-23).

Others were killed whose names are not recorded. Jesus gives us reason to believe there were many who made the ultimate sacrifice (Luke 11:50-51).

So, there you are. Praise God at least I haven’t had to suffer anything that drastic! I’m only muddled because I allow myself to be distracted by all the bling around me. His Holy Prophets suffered from stuttering, depression, they were tortured, beheaded, cut in two, ignored, belittled, starved, and everything else that’s horrible one can think of that we humans in our sin do to one another. Also others who have sought to follow Him have suffered all these fates but they stayed focused and kept going. It’s God’s infinite mercy and grace that the whole human race hasn’t been given over to a debased mind to digress into extinction by our own hands isn't it?! Instead He sent a perfect Saviour His only begotten son, Jesus Christ, who paid for all our sins at Calvary. Free of cost for us, but, oh, what it cost Him. All we have to do is trust and believe.

May your day be blessed with more coherent thoughts than mine. Keep looking up dear ones because Jesus will be taking all of us who trust and believe Him outta the way of the wrath to come soon!

Friday Foto

We've been feeding the deer sweet corn down on the gun range which also attracts lots of other hungry wildlife. Mostly birds. These are only a few of the one's that have shown up. Usually the migratory's come through but they're late this year. Perhaps they'll grace us with their presence for the next Friday Foto.

Enjoy the photo overload.

Blue Jay
The blue jay is a passerine bird in the family Corvidae, native to eastern North America.
It lives in most of the eastern and central United States; some eastern populations
may be migratory. Resident populations are also in Newfoundland, Canada;
breeding populations are found across southern Canada.

Brown Thrasher (Georgia State Bird)
The brown thrasher, sometimes erroneously called the brown thrush or fox-coloured thrush, is a bird in the family Mimidae, which also includes the New World catbirds and mockingbirds.

Northern Cardinal (we named our property after these beautities)
The northern cardinal, known colloquially as the redbird, common cardinal,
red cardinal, or just cardinal, is a bird in the genus Cardinalis.

Red-bellied Woodpecker
The red-bellied woodpecker is a medium-sized woodpecker of the family Picidae.
It breeds mainly in the eastern United States, ranging as far south as Florida
and as far north as Canada.

Eastern Grey Squirrel with Blue Jays
The eastern gray squirrel, also known, particularly outside of North America,
as simply the grey squirrel, is a tree squirrel in the genus Sciurus.
It is native to eastern North America, where it is the most prodigious
and ecologically essential natural forest regenerator.

Towhee
Pipilo is a genus of birds in the American sparrow family Passerellidae.
It is one of two genera containing birds with the common name towhee.

It is such a pleasure, an honor and a privilege to be surrounded by God's beautiful handiwork. I try to thank Him every day for allowing us to live here. Can I get an amen?!

Thursday Thoughts

Good morning folks! Yesterday went from dull to interesting. We started out shopping. Dropped by a new business called Trackside Emporium on Central Avenue in Blackshear that sells antiques and odds and ends on consignment. Last week Steve had set up an account to sell some of his work. Below is the display the owner did for us. Nice huh? I hope they sell.

After stopping at Trackside we sped off to Waycross to keep an important doctor's appointment at the spine center. Steve's been experiencing sporadic debilitating back pain. Poor guy's been waiting since last week to go in to get help. Well, guess what?! The little receptionist lady in the office that made the appointment last week made it for the wrong office. What the ...!?! 😲 Apparently they have an office in Waycross and one in Baxley. She put us in Baxley! πŸ˜• Bummer. Now he has to start all over again. 😑 Well at least Steve said he's feeling somewhat improved by now, which I'm very grateful for. Thank you Lord for answered prayer! For now he wants to wait to see if it starts ailing badly again before trying to return. Maybe they'll get it right next time. πŸ˜’ Medical care in America is so messed up since the man who calls himself 0bama slithered into Office.

Funny thing happened at the doctors. When we walked into the spine center, Steve made a beeline for the check in center, which is only right since he's the patient. Since we live in a small community the first thing I do is scan all the faces in the waiting room to see who's around. 'Lo and behold two very dear Facebook friends were sitting right there in the corner whom we had never met face-to-face! What fun! That made the visit much more pleasant and we finally got to meet properly. We ended up staying just to pass the time with them. When they got called back we moved on to other errands since Steve's appointment was a mistake. Kinda worked out OK anyway. I guess you know you're getting old when your social life revolves almost exclusively around doctors offices!! πŸ˜…πŸ˜‚

Sam's excited ... can you tell? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜†

Must be the weather but I need a change. I've decided to get rid of the boring sofa and recliner covers and have something brighter. I ordered the one below last night.

Can I have the dog too? No? πŸ‘€πŸ•

If my joint health was better I'd paint the walls or at least give them a good wash. My mind still thinks I'm 18 but every time I put my head back or lift my arms ... it's CRACK .. ouch! My body reminds me I'm almost 70. Then I have to run and get the heating pad to ease the ache. πŸ˜† Aging is not for sissies. I'm so grateful I won't keep this body for eternity but am being renewed in my Spirit by Jesus Christ. What a blessing.  πŸ’–

Hope y'all have a great day. Go create lots of happy memories, share the Gospel while we can, and make someone's day with a smile or kind word, as we wait on our Saviour to make His appearance to us that we may be with Him forever.  πŸ’™πŸ’šπŸ’›πŸ’œ

Tuesday Tidbits

Good morning friends!

Today is starting out blustery and overcast. Southeast Georgia is bracing for a big cold front that's expected to pass through possibly by mid-day. Right now it's giving Alabama what-for. There's been such a brouhaha about the storm that the local Governments shut down all the Schools. Usually these things play out before they reach the Georgia coast. I'm getting tired of all the fuss over weather. It seems like every time the wind blows or it rains or some natural occurring weather event is anticipated, the news tries to ensue wide spread panic. Cheese and crackers people what a big fuss over something we have no control over. Good grief. Well, whatever happens, praying for a hedge of protection around all of us. At least our property is fairly well sheltered. When we were first clearing the acreage in 1993 I had them leave a majority of mature trees. I did it mostly for protection from sun but also from wind. The heavily forested areas encourage wildlife and offer us much welcome shade in the sweltering Summer heat. The temperatures do get brutal here from about July to mid-September.

My heart is breaking today about losing another friend. Yesterday I learned that I lost a dear internet friend of almost 25 years last Thanksgiving and didn't even know it. I wondered why she hadn't wished me Merry Christmas nor Happy New Year. Like usual, I lost track of the time. Jan and I have been "pen pals" since the early days of internet in the late 90s. Even though we never met face-to-face we were still good friends. Jan was really sweet, intelligent, funny gal (note the T-shirt ... what a hoot!) who loved the Lord. Jan originally hailed from Texas. She was a true Southern Lady in every respect. Thanks to her kindness I learned a lot about website design back when all this computer stuff was still new. I felt so muddled all the time with the strange language these things spawned.

When we first met Jan lived in Washington State. Sadly, her husband of many years became very ill and passed away in 2010. The winters and other factors became too much for her so she and her family sold everything and moved to a resort town in Barra de Navidad, Mexico. They lived on a sailboat! How exciting, right?! She's so brave. I could never do that as I get really sea sick. I'm a poor sailor. Give me flat, stable land anytime!

I'll miss our on-line chats about web design, our faith, family and life in general. Jan was so much more clever about these things than I am. At least I know one day soon we'll all be rejoicing at the feet of Jesus together forever and will never have to say Goodbye again. ❤

Oh, Glorious Day.

Sunday Stealing: My Favorite

Welcome to Sunday Stealing. This feature originated and published on WTIT: The Blog. Here we will steal all types of questions from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent questions. Cheers to all of us thieves. Wanna join in? The original post is here.

1. Favorite food?  I think I would have to narrow my huge collection of tasty fav's to Medium-rare Rib Eye steaks pan fried in gobs of butter, sprinkled with Montreal Steak Seasoning. It's so delicious, healthy and fulfilling to eat keto. I get to eat all the made-up "forbidden fruit" of high fat, cholesterol laden, high in sodium goodies. It was a real awakening to learn that all we've been taught about eating is a untrue. The Food Pyramid is another Government lie put out by Big Business and Special Interests to keep everyone fat, sick, medicated and going to Doctors because of the sin of greed. [Jere. 6:13, Jere. 8:10, 1 Timothy 3:8, Luke 12:15]

Pearls Before Swine

2. Favorite color? That depends. For clothes it depends on the mood and the weather. For the house exterior, we went with a Peach color with Hunter Green trim. Inside it's anybody's guess. πŸ˜• For a motorcycle I think my fav would be a French Racing Blue with White trim. Right now the Honda is shiny black. How dull! Honda is boring now. Well, I can't afford a respray at the moment, but, oh yeah. I can dream, can't I .... 😏

3. Favorite animal?  Dogs. Absolutely. We have three of them at the moment.

4. Favorite thing to do on a cold day?  Once it was going for a ride. Haven't done much of that this year, so, my fav activity must be sitting and playing on the computer. Hello Old Age, right?!  πŸ˜‰πŸ˜…

5. Favorite vacation spot?  Northern Georgia, Western South Carolina in those lovely, twisty foothills in the Fall or Spring and the Texas Hill Country. All these at any time except in the Summer. I still don't tolerate extreme heat well.

Texas Hill Country Trip (2011)

6. Favorite TV show? That too varies according my mood but I can safely say it's almost anything British, of a "period" nature and doesn't have vulgarity or overt nudity. My favorite genres are history, drama, mystery and psychological thrillers.

7. Favorite mythical creature? An honest politician. πŸ˜‚ Ok ok, but seriously, can't think of one but my favorite mythical character is Sherlock Holmes. πŸ”

8. Favorite fairy tale?  When I was a teenager I read a lot of Chinese myths and legends. I didn't think they were real or anything but the morals taught were quite good. They do have an interesting culture. It's incredibly ancient.

9. Favorite thing to draw?  Don't draw or paint much anymore. I did do some very basic looking landscapes with mountains and a pond in the foreground. Sometimes I would sketch a crude outline of a Quarter Horse. I'm sure if Annie in NJ could see my lame attempts at art she'd have to restrain from giggling. (That's OK. I giggle too.) They're really amateurish compared to a real artist.

10. Favorite scent? Baked apple or baked pumpkin. Yum. Since I don't eat sugary desserts anymore I use these scents in our Scentsy wax burners.

11. Favorite mode of transportation? Um, anything with 2 wheels!? Duh, right?! 😁😎

12. Favorite vegetable? Brussel Sprouts, split open, then pan fried with bacon grease, butter, and other flavors. Oh my gosh that's slap 'yo mama good.

13. Favorite candy? Almost anything from the Russell Stover Sugar-free collection. My go to for a sweet tooth is the Sugar Free Mint Patties. Careful there, though, they can cause a mild case of flatulence if one overindulgences. Not Moi!  πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

14. Favorite sport? MotoGP and American Superbike.

15. Favorite weather?  Not really that picky. I try to thank God every day for whatever the weather is. HE is in charge of all things. Can't control any of it. No point in complainin'. Amen?!

It's been a quiet week, thus the no blog posts for a couple of days. No news is good news. But, speaking of that, our Church did hear some good news. Our Pastor's family has been enduring a horrible trial for over 3 years that we have all been praying reverently about. The Pastor's son, daughter-in-law, grandson and grandson's girlfriend where in a devasting auto accident on Thanksgiving 3 years ago. A drunk driver deliberately crashed into them head on. He said he wanted to die and take someone out with him. The crash killed the daughter-in-law outright and put the grandson into a coma. The one's that weren't injured were the one's wearing their seatbelts. (Don't make me get out my soapbox on this subject y'all.) Anyway, grandson has been in a coma on life-support via Hospice for this entire time hovering between life and death. Recently, grandson began to show slight signs of "waking up"! So, this week grandson was transported to Savannah for lots of additional testing to see if Insurance will qualify him for better care which could lead to improving his chances for a normal life. (Hope I said that correctly.) After the test they received good news that he is improving! Praise God! There's still more tests for grandson to be put through but we all feel that this is a step in the right direction. God answers prayer according to His will! πŸ’“ He is so awesome. πŸ’“ Jesus not only heals hearts, minds, finances, etc. but He also heals lives. Wow. It's wonderful to watch a miracle as it's unfolding. Such good news most certainly lightens our hearts and also those of our fellow Saints in Christ, I'm sure.

Thanks for putting the kickstand down. Ride safe folks. πŸ’•πŸ˜ŽπŸ

Miscellaneous Thoughts

😁 It's currently 65* with the humidity at 85%. The walls in the carport are drenched in moisture. It actually appears to be body sweat. This is what happens when it warms up in the Southeast. My hair is super fine and naturally curly and if I don't plaster it down, this is what I look like! πŸ˜… I want a straight, combed, neat coiffure.

My hair:

Also, Steve's back is aching from the temperature change. We were planning on driving around the tri-county area in search of homes For Sale to assist Steve's little sister and her family in their move. Their plans are to quit southern Florida sometime in the "near future" to be near us. I think instead of looking for any specific house or land we'll only check out the areas they have expressed interest in to make sure it would be pleasing to them [like nothing noisy next door, etc.]. Even though I want to put them in a specific spot I've got to remember this is their dream, not ours. It will be up to them to make the ultimate decisions concerning the move. They believe in Jesus too and know to pray, ask God, go with His guidance, not ours. When it's right it'll happen. Nothing will stop it. We may want them in a specific place at a specific time but we need to all trust Jesus to show them and us the way.

But I am still super excited!! I have to resist every temptation to take control of it all! πŸ˜‚ I enjoy looking at property and land. I'm also learning a lot about this place we've been living in for over 30 years. It's just fun.

I hope everyone is having a less fuzzy day with loving friends and family all around.

Bits And Pieces

Sunset On New Year's Day

New Year's Day the weather was gorgeous. The sunset was stunning too, even though the photo doesn't really do it justice. I was sitting on the back deck enjoying the moment when suddenly the woods behind the tall Slash Pines became back lit by the sun's rays. It literally looked like the woods were golden. So lovely.

I learned a new word today: perihelion.

Dictionary
Definitions from Oxford LanguagesLearn more
per·i·he·li·on
/ˌperΙ™ΛˆhΔ“lyΙ™n/
noun
ASTRONOMY
  1. the point in the orbit of a planet, asteroid, or comet at which it is closest to the sun.
    "today Mercury is at perihelion"

Today marks this event with the sun and the earth being closest. I do find astronomy interesting. The stars, the sun and the moon and their movements don't effect us or determine our personalities (that's astrology which is strictly forbidden), but these elements do reflect God's nature since He is the Creator. This past year  at Christmas we watched the film "The Star of Bethlehem". I enjoyed it so much that I bought it on DVD to watch anytime. The film does glorify God as it shows how great and big and wise He truly is. All that's happened and will happen has been planned from the very beginning. He is awesome.

Not much going on at Red Bird Acres this week. Our days are somewhat askew thanks to all the holiday's. They're fun but it's nice when they're all over and things go back to normal. I did put all the Christmas decorations away on Jan. 1st. Now it's the normal routines of grocery shopping, buying supplies and the like. Rain is expected for the weekend. Again. One good thing about rain is it keeps the 4 wheelers off our narrow dirt road. Those machines are a pest here in the country! I pray for all those that whiz by because I'm worried that those underaged drivers will end up in a ditch. It has killed a lot of young folks these past few years. I guess their parents don't care. I don't get that.

Anyway, off we go to our Adventures In Grocery Shopping. 😁 I'll be glad when it warms up so we can go for a ride again. Cold weather makes my joints ache. That's so uncomfortable. It's been too long since I've felt that delta breeze on my knees.

I pray y'all will have a safe and enjoyable day. Stay warm and Ride safe. Thanks for stopping by.
