Monday Musings On A Tuesday

I'm a day late and dollar short on posting for yesterday. Sometimes I feel like the White Rabbit in Alice In Wonderland mumbling, "I'm late! I'm late!" πŸ˜‚

Steve is in the kitchen right now humming a lively tune as he is making Cucumber Sandwiches for later. I've been wanting to try one of these sandwiches since forever. I think it's easy enough to make them so that even someone who is Recipe Impaired as I can do pretty well. He said he will take the remainder of the cucumbers and make cucumber salad for tomorrow. That goes so good with grilled Rib Eyes and garlic bread. Yum!
On Sunday the Church kindly voted to pay for Mr. Tommy's A/C. I searched diligently for the best price with a warranty. Walmart had the best deal, so, yesterday we drove there to pick it up. Ordering it on-line then picking it up at the store I saved (well, the Church saved) $31.00. Every little bit helps. Steve installed it in his trailer yesterday afternoon. He said it felt like it was over 100* in there. Bless his heart. I'm so grateful to attend a Church with such wonderful, generous, loving, living the Christian life folks! We are small in number and pocket but big in heart.  πŸ’ž
By the way, the background image on the blog is a photo of some of our Palmetto's this year. They have bloomed like crazy because of all the rain. That means there will be lots of berries. Aren't they pretty?
I'll close for now. It's too hot out to do any work. Guess I'll spend the afternoon finishing up the "God's Smuggler" book by Brother Andrew. What an adventurous life he's lead! It's making me reexamine if I'm trusting in the Lord as much as I should too. I can see lots of mistakes I've been making about not believing in how big and great He truly is.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope y'all have wonderful remainder of the day.

  1. I'm going to have to dig out my God's Smuggler book again. I think its the kind of book to reread every now and then to take a fresh look at my life and how I trust...
Hope you're not too hot and can relax the rest of the day. Enjoy your sandwiches..sounds yummy.
Your church is blessed and will be blessed for the "offerings" given for the AC. That's the Hands and Feet of Jesus to me.

    1. Since this book is a loner I want to buy my own copy. It's definitely a 'keeper'! πŸ’™

  2. Hooray for your church! I know Tommy must be delighted beyond belief. No one needs to be suffering in the summer heat of south Georgia.
The book you are reading sounds wonderful, too. I'll remember that title for down the road as the stacks of books I've yet to read are simply too large.
    Blessings!

    1. This book is a 'keeper' in my opinion.
Been making the effort to remember to pray for your Danny and all my Blogging friends. I hope he's doing much better now. πŸ’™

    1. So far, not a fan. I think we'll change the recipe some. Might need to be colder too. We'll try again some other day. πŸ’™

  4. Thanks for the mention of cucumbers; I may try this sandwich how-to! Speaking of rib-eyes. After Tom's doctor appointment this morning we stopped at Cracker Barrel. I was excited to try their new 10 oz. rib-eye breakfast. Ugh. It was probably the worst piece of meat I've had in years. Love how your church stepped up to help Tommy; and Steve did the heavy lifting. He looks like dear!

  5. I guess Blogger didn't like what I had to say about rib-eyes ... at Cracker Barrel, that is. (*sigh*) Your Tommy looks like a dear! I'm so glad your church voted to get him some relief ... and Steve did the heavy lifting!

    1. I know! What was THAT about!? I had to go "approve" it. *sigh* Sorry about that.
We seldom have steak in the restaurant anymore because most of the time it's overcooked and ruined. Steve cooks our Rib eyes to perfection, medium-rare with lots of seasoning. Yum.
Mr. Tommy is a dear. He's poor as a Church mouse because of disabilities, going blind, and now has an ailing shoulder but still helps his neighbors whenever possible. He's quite a guy. πŸ’™

  6. I am so happy and thankful to God and your church that Tommy now has an AC.. this heat is killer, this morning at 3 am it was 82 feels like 87 outside and the humidity almost drowned Beau and I when we walked.
I love palmettos and hubby does not. we have had words many times over him cutting them back or down. they are in our back yard. I think your are beautiful... about your comment on sugar a few days ago. I gave up sugar Jan 26, 2017, and by the end of the year had lost 70 pounds. I have had no sugar since then. I am addicted to it and in 1979 went off of it for 7 years and then my parents came to visit us down here and we went out for ice cream, I gained back all of the 100 pounds I lost and a little more, took about 2 years of see saw weight. bob is Bob and will never give up sugar and I don't even mention it. he doesn't have long to live, even if he lived to 100. I have trouble getting enough protein because meat does killer things to IBS and so do veggies and just about everything.

    1. This heat is dangerous. It makes me sick if I'm out too long.
I'm an sugar addict too. I can slip into it again sooooo easily. It took me over 5 years to lose 45 lbs. Oh how I wish I'd started on this way of eating sooner. Anyway, it was a thought as far as memory is concerned. Seems like everything we do works against us health wise, doesn't it?! πŸ’™

  8. Cucumber sandwiches sound so good - I haven't made them in years. What sounds better is how wonderful your church is to help that man get A/C in southern GA in the summer time. WHAT A GIFT FROM GOD!

    1. Amen to the gift from God! He has opened His coffers in abundance! I made certain to give Him the glory. I so worry about those struggling feeling such despair that they may not want to continue on. I want everyone to know Jesus loves them and cares about their needs. πŸ’™
