Hydrangea Macrophylla And A Dog Day Morning

After years of fruitless growth, the Hydrangea macrophylla (commonly called Bigleaf hydrangea) next to my office is blooming!

I finally got serious about getting this plant to bloom and used the Hi-Yield Magnesium Sulfate available at our local Ace Hardware.

And Sam and Jack, aka The Jack Russell Terriorists (a well earned nickname!), where looking so deceptively cute whilst sunning themselves on the front stoop, I had to stop take a snap.

I hope this made you smile and everyone has a fun filled, sunny day!

  2. @Monkeywrangler ~ Amen to that! They're probably plotting how to get out of the fence ... again. Sam has gotten so adapt at that little trick, I call him Houdini. ~:)

  4. It did make me smile and I needed that today. The hydrangea is lovely and the pups are doing what I want to do...lay in the sun and nap!

  5. @Simply Linda ~ Don't feel bad, I had to look up Hydrangena! *ha ha* And they are little "terrorists", especially to our furry tree rats.

@Linda ~ I'm so glad the post helped you smile. Remember, a smile increases our Face Value. Hope the mammo was pleasant and there's no problems found.

    God bless. ~:)

  6. Your hydrangea is beautiful. I love them. I'm not sure we can grow them here. I may have to check it out.
Your "terrorists" are so cute. You have a great day. We're sunny and warm today too. A welcome relief from the cold.

  7. @Carol B. ~ After this last (long) winter I'll bet y'all are just sick of cold weather. I can empathise. The terrorists where only resting between, well, terrorizing something! *lol*
Thanks for the kind comments. ~:)

  8. This is the second time I've seen a beautiful hydrangea today. Simply beautiful. I wish I didn't have such packed soil. My house sits at the bottom of a little incline and all the water runs off. I can't even grow grass. My mama's yard was beautiful!

  9. I found a poppy in my garden that has a small bud. I planted them I think two years ago or was it last year??? It takes some plants more time to bloom.
    Love hydrangea's all colors.

  10. I have my hydrangea from Grandmother's funeral and will take it with me when I leave the farm. Did you know you could use Epsom salts as well? Probably cheaper too.
