Kingston Town Hall Meeting

This afternoon we attended our very first, and probably not our last, Town Hall Meeting in southeast Georgia. We were going to attend the one in Brunswick, but it turns out there was one in Waycross (infinitely closer for us). I would say there was about 200 warm bodies in the room, give or take.

Oh, and have you heard? This administration is labeling those of us who dare to disagree with the Progressive movement or the Magic Negro an "angry well organized GOP mob".

Huh?!?

I don't know about y'all but I'm just as angry at the GOP as I am at the Dem's ... maybe even more so. I feel betrayed by the Republicans. That's why we are now Libertarians.

Angry Mob Photo

Don't we look threatening?

Ok, some talking points about how the, eh, mob reacted to Rep. Kingston speech:

A) Everyone we met and heard was polite and reserved. When Jack Kingston spoke we listened quietly.

B) None of us had pre-printed T-shirts with our agenda proudly displayed, like, oh let's say ACORN.

C) We did not have professional preprinted signs.

D) No one had a megaphone.

E) Nor did we yell perfectly orchestrated chants.

Geez, these angry mobs are sneaky, ain't they?

Rep. Jack Kingston explaining
sections of ObamaCare

There were only two commie lib's that dared to get up and ask their usual stupid questions. One was a school Principal and the first thing out of her mouth was [whining voice] "But what about insurance for the children?" I let out such a loud sigh and comment that all the people around me started laughing. My comment? "Whatever happened to the parents taking care of their own kids lady?!" I actually got some quiet applause.

The lady sat down. [cricket] [cricket]

An older gentleman stood up, very respectfully, at the microphone provided and told Rep. Kingston that we are angry at this Administration and throwing out words now. He stated how ashamed he was that we are even talking about all these freedom stealing legislation's. He also said that if any of these heinous bills pass into law, the government is going to have a full-scale revolution on their hands.

The whole auditorium erupted in applause!! I felt so warmly towards these wonderful neighbors of mine.

So, News Flash, we're not laughing Mr. Obama.

It's Time To Abolish Homeland Security

I think this story is self-explanatory. 'Course, this did happen in Lousy-anna (Home of ACORN). They lost their souls a long time ago.

HOMELAND INSECURITY
Suspect detained over 'extremist' bumper sticker
'Don't Tread on Me' puts driver in 'watch' category in DHS report

A Louisiana driver was stopped and detained for having a "Don't Tread on Me" bumper sticker on his vehicle and warned by a police officer about the "subversive" message it sent, according to the driver's relative.

The situation developed in the small town of Ball, Louisiana, where a receptionist at the police department told WND she knew nothing about the traffic stop, during which the "suspect" was investigated for "extremist" activities, the relative said.

A man identifying himself as a police officer from Ball called WND later to report that the town's records of traffic stops did not include this situation. He suggested it might have involved one of several other agencies that work in the area.

It followed by only a few weeks the release of a Department of Homeland Security report, "Right-wing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment", which prompted outrage from legislators and a campaign calling for the resignation of DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano.

The report, which cites individuals who sport certain bumper stickers on their vehicles as suspect, was delivered to tens of thousands of local law enforcement officers across the nation.

WND is withholding the driver's name and the relative's name at their request.

However, the situation was described on the American Vision blog.

According to the relative, it happened this way: Her brother-in-law was driving home from work through the town, which has a local reputation for enhancing its budget by ticketing speeders. He was pulled over by police officers who told him "he had a subversive survivalist bumper sticker on his car."

Are you ready for a second Declaration of Independence? Sign the petition promoting true freedom once again!

"They proceeded to keep him there on the side of the road while they ran whatever they do to see if you have a record, keeping him standing by the side of the road for 30 minutes," she told WND.

Finding no record and no reason to keep him, they warned him and eventually let him go, she said.

The company that sells the bumper sticker is The Patriot Depot, where Chief Operating Officer Jay Taylor told WND the woman had told his staff about the situation while ordering more bumper stickers.

"It's rather shocking," he said. "We supposedly have freedom of speech in our country.

Proclaim to everyone: "Don't tread on me!" Get your own Gadsden Flag here!

"We joke around every now and then how our spouses will come to visit us in jail," he continued, citing his products that say, "The Audacity of Nope," "Taxed Enough Already," "Born Free, Taxed to Death," "Bring Home Our Troops: Send the Democrats" and "I'll Keep my Guns and Money, You Keep the 'Change'."

"We hope people realize this is serious," he said.

American Vision noted the "background check" that was done on the driver.

"Why? [He] had purchased and displayed a conservative 'Don't Tread on Me' bumper sticker.""

The commentator wrote, "The bumper sticker is based on the famous flag designed by American Revolution era general and statesman Christopher Gadsden. The yellow flag featured a coiled diamondback rattlesnake ready to strike, with the slogan 'Don't Tread on Me!' underneath it. Benjamin Franklin helped make the rattlesnake a symbol of Americans' reluctance to quarrel but vigilance and resolve in defense of their rights. By 1775 when Gadsden presented his flag to the commander-in-chief of the Navy, the rattlesnake was a symbol of the colonies and of their need to unite in defense of threats to their God-given and inherited rights. The flag and the bumper sticker symbolize American patriotism, the need to defend Americans' rights, and resistance to tyranny's threats to American liberty. Those threats included-and include-illegal taxation, profanation of Americans' rights, and violation of the fundamental principles of American law."

American Vision continued: "The notorious Department of Homeland Security memo, which was apparently based on the infamous Missouri State Police Report that described supporters of presidential candidates Bob Barr, Ron Paul, and Chuck Baldwin as 'militia'-type potential extremists and potential terrorists, is not the first effort of leftist radicals to slander their political opponents as 'extremists.'"

"'Liberals' and other leftists have been calling defenders of traditional American limited, constitutional government, free enterprise, and individual liberty 'extremists' since at least the 1964 election," the Vision America statement said. "Small town police misled by phony left wing 'reports' are bad enough. Federal government agencies and their armed agents under the direction of leftist radicals are exponentially worse."

WND reported earlier on the DHS report, which advised about the "extremism" that could be expected from returning veterans, those who support homeschooling and oppose abortion, post certain bumper stickers on their vehicles and other factors.

The DHS not only issued that report, but also an earlier memo defining dozens of groups, members of animal rights organizations, black separatists, tax protesters and others as "threats."

That item, the "Domestic Extremism Lexicon" reportedly was rescinded almost immediately, but Benjamin Sarlin of The Daily Beast recently obtained and published online a copy of the unclassified memo, dated March 26, 2009.

It defines the "tax resistance movement" – also referred to in the report as the tax protest movement or the tax freedom movement – as "groups or individuals who vehemently believe taxes violate their constitutional rights. Among their beliefs are that wages are not income, that paying income taxes is voluntary, and that the 16th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which allowed Congress to levy taxes on income, was not properly ratified."

It states that tax protesters "have been known to advocate or engage in criminal activity and plot acts of violence and terrorism in an attempt to advance their extremist goals."

Apparently, the DHS analyzes the "threat" level of Internet news websites like WorldNetDaily, for the lexicon defines "alternative media" as "a term used to describe various information sources that provide a forum for interpretations of events and issues that differ radically from those presented in mass media products and outlets."

Yesterday Is Dead And Gone

I'm sitting here, staring at the computer screen, wondering what to do next. I've got scads of housewifely chores and garden tasks to do, but I can't seem to get the lead outta my butt today. So, I thought it might help to pen these words. If this is too boring, don't feel like it must be read. I understand.

This week has been one for the Red Bird Acres history books.

Now, I don't consider myself a "good Christian" but with God's help, I try to do good things for other people, within financial and physical limitations, of course. Anything you say bad about me would be absolutely true and then some. Got lots of character flaws that God and I are working on together (I hate to tell Him but He has His work cut out for Him). I've done some things that no human will probably ever know about, for which I am deeply full of shame for and wish beyond measure I could go back and change it. I would. In my more recent history, I've angered unnecessarily two blogging associates which I wish I could take back. But that doesn't stop me from telling others about the love of Jesus Christ. HE is the One who is perfect. HE is the One deserving praise.

With that said ...

The neighbor I have discussed briefly here, Linda, died suddenly this week. I believe she passed either late Sunday evening or early Monday morning but I didn't find her body until yesterday around 3 PM. The Coroner has yet to determine time and cause of death. 'Course, "we all know" what the cause was: a prescription narcotic drug overdose from years of abuse.

Poor thing. Poor tortured soul. Why do people throw their lives away like it's yesterdays rubbish? I don't understand that way of thinking because I love life so much. I can't imagine wanting to end it or be so zonked all the time that I can't ride my motorcycle safey. I love Christ and look forward to being with him forever but do intend to fight to the end. Got lots to do, you know, lots to see ... lots of people to annoy. [wink]

I try witnessing for Christ more. I talked to Linda about being saved shortly after her husband, Doc, passed away on June 7th. She professed Christ verbally, so, I let it go at that with a "ask me if you have any questions" understanding. Oh, and I left her a Holy Bible for reference. I've been trying to be bolder for Christ.

Hubby and I and a few other neighbors have also gone the extra mile for Linda since Doc's passing. We've all taken turns mowing her enormous lawn, picking her up at the hospital after a bout with the drugs, carrying the mail up to the house, bought food for and cared for her six smelly hounds. We tried to help her get the financial side straightened out (my personal expertise, I'm good at putting out paper fires -- you accounting people know of what I speak) but she would not let me in to help. Linda kept complaining she was broke, but wouldn't let me go through her finances with her to assess the situation. I think I could have helped.

I'm not bragging just laying the groundwork for why I was being a nosy neighbor this week.

After three days of calling Linda and getting no response. I rode my little golf cart over to her property and checked on the dogs and mail situation. The mail box was brimming with mail (uh, oh, I thought) and the dogs had no food! Linda never neglected her dogs, even on her benders. The temperatures here have been consistently in the high 90's with 80 percent or more of humidity. The air has been really nasty. All her windows where open and one down stairs had the screen yanked out forcibly. The doors were locked, so I couldn't get in. "Crap" I thought. She must be on a tear this week from the drugs. I called, and hollered, and drove all over her property thinking that maybe she'd wandered out somewhere and collapsed. Not a creature was stirring, except those six smelly hounds.

I drove back to the house deep in thought and decided to call the Sheriff. I hate butting into people's lives but this might be important. I'm such a private person and would want others to respect my "I vant to be alone, dawlink'" if that ever happened. Turns out, the Sheriff, Richard, knew all about her and her little "problem". He dispatched a Deputy and nothing was found. They figured, well, Miss Linda is hiding in her house again (apparently this was a common event, I didn't know that).

Thursday morning I called again, "What's going on Richard? Have you found her?" Richard said, "Hmmm ... Ok, we'll bust in the house this time." And he asked if I would be there in case she gave them trouble. Our little county doesn't have female officers and a woman should be there for any arrests or whatever. I agree. No problem. Hopped in the golf cart again and met the two Deputies at Linda's house. After a moment's discussion, it was decided that one of the Deputies would shinny through the open downstairs window and let us in.

I walked in hollerin' "Linda! Sheriff's office is here. We're in your house. Come out of hiding dear ..." and proceeded to climb the stairs. The Deputy in front of me turned around and said, "I found her. She's at the top of the stairs .... dead. Call EMT's and the Coroner." I felt like someone had grabbed my throat and wouldn't let go. Deputy remarked I shouldn't come up because of the advanced decay, so, I turned around and stood in the living room on the brink of weeping. The other Deputy was also so kind, he kept asking if I was OK. "Yeah, I'm good." I've seen dead people before and I'm an avid hunter. I know what death looks like.

So, I did a good thing, right?

Therefore why am I'm feeling like a failure this morning?

I lay awake last night, sobbing gently, tossing and turning, aching all over, couldn't sleep again. I don't trust feelings because feelings will lie to us. Feelings get us into trouble 9 times out of 10. I try to rely more on facts. This event has me in a quandary. If I can put my finger on it I would say: I guess *I feel* bad that she laid over there for 3 or so days with no one to care or be with her. And *I feel* like we have unfinished business and she left without saying goodbye. We were going to help her, together we could fight this thing.

I need to let go of the *I feel* and go with the facts. Right?

Linda gave up a long time ago and we just came in on the tail end of the story. So sad.

Well, I hope I've learned some valuable personality lessons too, about myself and others. I hope I'll use this new knowledge to be a better Soldier for Christ and a better friend. To Him be the glory, forever and ever. Amen. Thanks for listening.

"But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." Isaiah 40:31

A little over five hundred pages to go and look what we are being asked to swallow. Don't let this happen America. Please keep the pressure on!! Keep praying, calling your Representatives, Senators, etc.

Still not appalled and need more convincing?

If nothing else, please listen to Betsy McCaughey. Patient Advocate and Founder of the Committee to Reduce Invectious Deaths (that's Betsy) calls in the Fred Thompson radio show.

"It's people!!"

The ACORN Link To Barak Hussein Obama

The Apollo Alliance
(there is a short advertisement at the start)

As Obama continues to try and distance himself from his ties to ACORN, The Glenn Beck program has showed the link between all the side government he keeps creating. The corrupt Obama Administration's social justice and "green" jobs are tied to ACORN and there are some new organizations that are important to learn about too: The Tides Center and The Apollo Alliance for example. They all tie into ACORN (now known as COI - Community Organizations International).

This is so very important y'all. Please take the time to listen and learn. As we the American people who love the Constitution and our freedoms bring this infectious bacteria of evil to the light, it kills the organism.

All our efforts matter and this is not going unnoticed.

But we must keep fighting and learning to win against the forces of darkness.

God bless you fellow Prayer Warriors!

Hudson Motorcar Company

Cars. TM & © 1995- Disney/Pixar

We were watching the Disney movie "Cars" on DVD last night, and one of the 'characters' in the animated movie is a Hudson Hornet.

That got me to wondering about the Hudson Motorcar Company. Could the company have been created by a relative?

It turns out there really was a 1951 Hudson Hornet and it was indeed fast ... fast for it's day, anyway!

"In 1909, four former associates of Ransom E. Olds (Roy Chapin, Howard Coffin, Frederick Bezner and James Brady) began building a line of cars that became known for value, performance and solid engineering.

Each of the founders put up $1,500, not much by auto industry standards, even in those days. The big bankroller was Joseph L. Hudson, department store magnate who invested $90,000 in the new motor-car venture. Hudson's portion was by far the largest investment. Roy Chapin, who emerged as the leader of Hudson Motor Car Co. and whose son, Roy Jr., would later run American Motors, the result of a merger of Nash-Kelvinator and Hudson, prudently decided to name the car after the man who put up most of the money.

The Hudson Motor Car Co. came to life in the winter of 1909, with a total capitalization of $100,000. First factory was that of the Aerocar, a venture that had gone under. Chapin and Coffin both were "graduates" of Ransom Olds' Olds Motor Works. They subsequently had built the Thomas-Detroit and the Chalmers-Detroit before launching Hudson."

In the 1930's Hudson was an innovator with its Essex and Terraplane lines, offering a choice of either six or eight cylinder engines. The Company was the first to use "unibody" designs. Eventually Hudson languished, merged with others and moved on to other endeavors.

1951 Hudson Hornet

After reading about the Company, I decided to study more about the man behind the money, Joseph Lowthian Hudson and his genealogy. I was curious to whether he was one of my husband's distant cousins or not.

According to other researchers, Joseph L. Hudson was born Oct. 17, 1846 in England and died Jul. 5, 1912 in England from a bout with pneumonia. He earned his money by being a Department store magnate in Detroit. He is buried in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Detroit, Michigan. I did a little more digging and Joseph was the son of Richard Hudson (b:c1820 New Castle-Upon-Tyme, England) and wife Elizabeth Lowthian (b: c1824 England).

Joseph never married, but his brothers and sisters did. Looks like he's not one of hubby's long-lost cousins but probably back somewhere in the murky waters of history, he and hubby are related. He may be one of the "lost" direct descendants of hubby's original Gentleman Henry "Harry" HERDSON, or a brother of same, but that is beyond my expertise and current monetary situation.

Well, it was fun learning about yet another Hudson anyway and a car company I'd never paid much attention to until today.
