Thursday Thoughts

Ok, I know, it's only been one week but I've decided that the new space age brace has got to stay off πŸ˜¬ except to sleep or if I leave the house! It's making me coo coo bananas! Whilst at home I'm going to spend this time gently flexing the fingers and wrist. I don't want to lose flexibility in these fingers. The left is me clutch hand. This may not be the smartest thing I've done all year but I'm going to give it a go. I am healing super fast since I don't eat sugar/carbs. Even the bruising is already gone!

So, Steve has very kindly volunteered to ride to Walgreen's to buy one of these for me to wear on the pinky around the house:

The splint is only $7.29. I pray it does the trick. Hope I'm not being foolish.
And, yes, I said he'd ride. 😎 Little stinker. Not fair I wanna ride too. 😁 The temp's have been pleasant of the morning. Isn't he cute in all his gear ladies? πŸ˜ We try to always ATGATT (all the gear all the time) when motorcycling. Safety is cuteness on two wheels .. to me.

Guess I'll play around with me genealogy sites while he's out being sweet. Can't get into any finger problems there. πŸ˜œ Thanks for stopping by and for your prayers.

  1. The big cast/splint should be on for around 3-6 weeks.. since the finger needs support from the rest of the hand so to speak. After that time you can switch to buddy taping At least that is what we did back in the day.
Just an FYI. You might want to read this: https://www.handrecovery.com.au/news/news-its-not-just-a-dislocated-finger/

  4. When I had my rotator cuff surgery I had to wear this supported sling that had a wedge keeping my arm in the correct healing position for close to 6 weeks. The only time I could take it off was to shower. Toward the 4 th week I would unstrap it while sitting. It was miserable but I followed my orthopedist directions. I’d call the office when tempted to remove it. They would talk me out of it and while I didn’t like what they said, it made sense.
And that my dear Georgia friend is all I have to say on that.
I’m doing genealogy at least twice a week. It is so much fun. I have the subscription to newspapers.com and that’s been informative.
My dad used to ride motorcycles. He started with a Honda and then moved up to Harleys! He had 2 of them. They belonged to a motorcycle club and had a lot of fun back in the late 60’s to 70’s.
Praying for your finger/ hand for healing. Have a great day!

    1. *SIGH* The space age splint is back on. Y'all (you and Annie) are right. Guess I am more headstrong than I realized. God is so good to protect me ... I'll only pout for a little bit about having to wear it. *LOL* Love all you gals to pieces. Thanks.πŸ’™

  6. I don't know much about splints, etc., but I am glad you listened to our friends above. There's a reason for it, even if it hurts or is uncomfortable. Sorry sweet friend. This too shall pass and then your hand will be whole again. Lessons in patience are never fun. (((hugs))) Praying for you while you wait.

  7. I have never had anything broken but I can imagine how uncomfortable the brace is, that being said I'm glad you went back to wearing it..since you are healing so quickly it really will be over before you know it...
Your hubby is sweet and looks fabulous in his gear. Kudos to him.

  9. I'll keep praying for your quick recovery, Sparky. Yes, sometimes the waiting for healing is more painful than the actual injury!
    Blessings!

  10. I hope the finger brace works. I think as long as you don't do anything crazy, it will be fine.

  11. I am thinking that if the doctor thought a splint would be ok that is what he would have put on it... just Sayin... yes he does look handsome and sweet, but take the sweet with a little salt because he might just want a reason to go bike riding ha ha...

    1. That made me giggle! Love your humor. I'm being a good girl and have my splint on. Get this, though, I'm healing so fast that the stitches fell out on their own! Plus the swelling is almost gone and I have been gently bending the finger. God is indeed The Great Healer. πŸ’™
