A friend is one that knows you as you are, understands where you have been, accepts what you have become, and still, gently allows you to grow. ~ William Shakespeare
Ahhh I have similar issues with "did you ask them to say the sinner's prayer?" When asked about a Holy Spirit appointment. Uhh, could you show me that "prayer" in the words of the New Testament? Not saying it is necessarily wrong, just not necessary. And did the NT ask that we lead someone in a prayer, phrase by phrase, or do we instead have examples of apostles, disciples, accepting the unrehearsed declaration of belief following whatever the Holy Spirit chose to use to cause their scales on their eyes to fall off? Sometimes the current culture of Christianity isn't just cultural, it is rather dangerous. And on more than just this point.
Amen, brudda. I shall see you in the Great Beyond for my BIG-OL party celebrating our resurrection. God bless.
