Funny Friday - Calvin and Hobbes

Calvin And Hobbes

One of my favorite newspaper cartoons that I read almost daily is Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson. It's been in syndication since 1985.

The strip follows the richly imaginative adventures of a little boy named Calvin and his trusty tiger, Hobbes. The tiger is actually a stuffed toy belonging to Calvin. Whether a poignant look at serious family issues or a round of time-travel (with the aid of a well-labeled cardboard box) the two have many adventures together. I know it always brightens my day to remember how much fun it was to be a kid. C&H is a real delight to read.

  3. Yippe! Oh my stars, a fellow Calvin and Hobbes lover! Sparky, truly we are kindred-spirit friends... just like Anne Shirley and Diana in Anne of Green Gables! ha ha

I LOVE Calvin! I've got lots of his books. I was sooo bumbed when he retired. Wow, must be over 10 years now. Sigh...

  4. When I was growing up, I couldn't wait to get the Sunday funnies and read Dagwood. I always wanted to try one of those huge sandwiches, lol

  5. I like the philosophical/humorous take on life. I always read Beetle Bailey and Dagwood when I was growing up. I loved Archie and Veronica comic books.

  6. A few years ago for Christmas we gave the boys the Calvin compendiums- big giant books full of cartoons. A&P loved them and sat for hours laughing outloud. We refer to Calvin all the time- especially Mo the bully who steals Calvin's lunch money.

Best yet- when Calvin backed the car out of the garage and it ended up in the ditch across the street.

Good times. I threaten A&P every day (or so) that there will be no driver's license if they even think about touching the cars. That's why God made them feet.
