Spirit of Liberty Poker Run

Sweetie and I rode in the Spirit of Liberty Poker Run, Patterson, yesterday. As usual, the poker run was not handled correctly. The ones in Florida were so much more professional. Again, the organizers started too late in the day and made the bikes run in a pack at 70 mph. That's not very much fun, nor is it safe riding conditions. Since we knew the route, some of us took off ahead of the pack and poked along at a comfortable speed and just met everyone else at the designated areas. Also, the air was typical SE Georgia June temperature: hot and nasty. But, even with all that against it, we're still glad we rode. Even a bad day riding is better than no ride at all! That Suzuki is one sweet handling machine.

I forgot to add a photo of what I bought from a local vendor, Omi's Art, at the Spirit of Liberty. First we scooted home and traded our 2 wheels for 4 wheels. Glad we did! Check out my purchase below. It is lovely, isn't it? It now resides on our front porch. I'm hoping the Carolina Wren's will like it and decide to live there.

Ride safe y'all!

Our Current Motorcycles

Sweetie rides a yellow 2007 Triumph Tiger 1050. Check out the new Hepco-Becker bags and handguards. Nice, huh?! No more bugs pounding into his knuckles at high speed. :o) Ouch!

My ride is now a blue 2007 Suzuki V-Strom 650. My bike is not as fast as Sweetie's but my MPG is better (60+- MPG). This day I didn't have my luggage attached. Adventure bikes have much improved handling over other bikes. I'm glad I've given up on cruisers .... for now.

These pictures were taken at Laura S. Walker State Park on a lovely SE Georgia morning. It was sunny and cool that morning. Now, we need to make a tour of the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Enjoy!

Pressing On and a Joke

Greetings Y'all,

Using this Blog web site is a bit of a pill but I am slowly learning how this site works. The directions are clear as mud. But I have been refining and tweaking it to my liking nonetheless.

I have added a Poll for your consideration.

And here's a joke for your enjoyment:

Be chatting with ya. Enjoy!

First Post

Greetings Dear Ones,

Since I am new at this, please be patient as I learn how to blog and I set the site up to my liking. Just learning how to edit will take some time.

My passion is family genealogy, thusly, I will probably stick to mostly discussing our respective family history's, concentrating mostly events here in 'wiregrass' Georgia and Florida. The "Wiregrass" area of America pertains to southern Georgia, southern Alabama and northern Florida.

Just like most people, I have my own passionate views on politics and I have my unshakable christian beliefs.

I'm quite good at researching and finding folks that may be lost to history. I thought it would be fun to impart such knowledge here for other's benefits and maybe I could also learn something along the way. I'm always open to learn new researching methods or a neat new web site that's FREE.

Or I might chuck the whole genealogy idea and just share random thoughts. Who knows? Time will tell. [grin]

Anyway ....

Enjoy! I'll be chatting with y'all more later. Thanks for stopping by and I hope to be hearing from ya.
